Mingei International Museum is excited, once again, to be partnering with the Allied Craftsmen of San Diego to curate the exhibition Metamorphosis.  Members of the Allied Craftsmen are invited to submit new artwork to be juried by Mingei staff to form the exhibition.  The theme of 2019’s exhibition will be Metamorphosis to align with the museum’s major renovation project, currently underway in Balboa Park.  The exhibition will be on view at the City Gallery at San Diego City College.
 
At the heart of Mingei International Museum are stunning exhibitions of folk art, design and craft that exude human creativity and spirit. While our Balboa Park museum is temporarily closed for a major renovation, Mingei remains open for business with popup exhibitions, maker events and installations throughout San Diego.

 

Criteria for Selection:

  • Submissions are open to ALL active Allied Craftsmen members in any craft category

  • Artwork must be submitted via ArtCall.org by the deadline, submission is free

  • Artists must submit an Artist’s Statement with their submission(s).  This information should be included in the User Biography/Vitae section when you register for ArtCall.org.

  • Artwork must be current [created no earlier than 2017] and not previously shown in San Diego

  • Artists may submit up to three (3) artworks - one (1) application per artwork.  For example, if you are submitting 3 artworks, you will need to submit 3 applications.  Artists will be able to include up to three (3) images per object.

  • Artwork must be ready to hang or install
